The Chinese ambassador to Iran said: As the 15th ambassador of China to Iran, I am ready to cooperate with all levels of Iran during my term of office in order to promote exchanges and mutual learning between the civilizations of China and Iran, promote mutual understanding between the two nations, and strengthen relations To raise the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Iran to a new level.

Zong Pei Wu, the Chinese ambassador to Iran, wrote in a special note that he provided to ISNA: “I arrived in beautiful Iran on May 10th and started my new job.” When I arrived at the airport, the Iranian friend who came to greet me gave me a cup of hot black tea. I was very happy to know that Iran, like China, is a country that knows and loves tea. There are different types of tea in China, including green tea, black tea, white tea, yellow tea, etc., each of which has its fans, but Iranian people prefer Iranian black tea with a strong aroma and amber color. “Preparing a hot cup of tea to welcome guests” is a common hospitality tradition in both countries. Tea is not only associated with the daily life of the people of the two countries, but also integrated into the genes of the two civilizations.

May 21st is International Tea Day. The aroma of tea from China, as the birthplace of tea, has spread along the ancient tea and horse road and the silk road of Iran. Chinese tea has been introduced to Iran for nearly a thousand years. The pronunciation of “tea” in Farsi is very similar to the pronunciation of the Chinese language, which is a clear confirmation of the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations along the ancient Silk Road. Both Chinese teahouses and Iranian teahouses focus on creating a natural atmosphere of “man among plants” and drinking a pot of tea in the middle of the grass and next to flowing water, which shows that both civilizations seek harmony between man and nature.

Over the years, Iran has also developed its own unique tea culture and tea drinking tradition. Sohrab Sepehri, a famous Iranian poet, describes the custom of drinking tea in Iran as follows: “Life is a short ration, like a cup of tea, and next to it is love, like a sugar cube, life should be consumed with love.” “Drinking tea with sugar” is a unique way to enjoy tea in Iran, and together with sweet and delicious Iranian desserts, it has a unique and calm elegance. A cup of tea reflects the beautiful image of exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Iranian civilizations. People of two countries become friends with tea, bond with tea, enjoy the aroma and charm of tea and share a beautiful life.

President Xi Jinping has pointed out that today, the future and destiny of all countries are closely linked, tolerance, coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations play an irreplaceable role in advancing the process of modernization of human society and prosperity of world civilizations. The Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping not only respects the objective reality of the diversity of civilizations, but also strives to pursue the greatest common denominator among different civilizations, not only caring about the heritage of civilizations. but also learns from the past, and to create a network of cooperation and dialogue of global civilization to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation between people and culture and promote mutual understanding between the people of all countries. The story of tea between China and Iran is colorful because of exchanges, the culture of tea has been enriched because of mutual learning, and the hearts of the people of the two countries have become closer to each other because of tea.

Civilization is like water that silently moistens everything. Friendship is like tea that has a lasting taste. Although I have been in Iran for a short time, I deeply felt that the dialogue and convergence of Chinese and Iranian civilizations has a long history, and the deep friendship of the Iranian people towards China and the Chinese people is strong. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Iran relations have maintained positive development, mutual political trust has deepened, practical cooperation has steadily progressed, and cultural relations between the two sides have become closer day by day. And people know each other better.

The Silk Road spans thousands of years and the aroma of tea stretches tens of thousands of kilometers. The tea leaf has penetrated the borders and connected distant China and Iran, which tells a beautiful story of exchange and mutual learning between two civilizations. As the 15th ambassador of China to Iran, I am ready to cooperate with Iranian friends from all walks of life during my term of office to promote exchanges and mutual learning between the civilizations of China and Iran, promote mutual understanding between the two nations, and China’s comprehensive strategic partnership relations. and raise Iran to a new level.
